Superfood Salad Dressing

I am always in search of delicious salad dressings because I love and live on salads. I stumbled upon this one by accident and I am slightly obsessed. I don’t like conventional salad dressings by themselves (at all) as I usually think they are too strong. Often I simply use a little high quality olive oil and sea salt. But sometimes I want more flavor.

One day I got some basic bottled olive oil and vinegar (only natural- no added sugar or corn syrup). I added probably a tablespoon to a bowl. And because I wanted to add in some turmeric for its medicinal qualities, I added about a half a teaspoon. Then I added some fresh, pressed garlic. I topped it off with olive oil (about twice as much as the oil and vinegar dressing). I tasted it and it was good but felt like something was missing. It was then that I thought about nutritional yeast. And that was the magic! I added that to the bowl and the three main ingredients (turmeric, garlic and nutritional yeast) just worked.

The coolest part is that often salad dressings sabotage your efforts of being healthy and well. With this Superfood Salad Dressing, I am adding massive amounts of vitamins, minerals, and healing properties to my already winning raw greens. Here’s why. Turmeric is long known as a healing spice. It is anti-inflammatory and a cancer fighter. Look at it’s strong pigment. It is cleansing and can lower cholesterol. You need to find ways to add this organic spice to your diet. Many people make turmeric tea. I don’t know about you, but I would rather eat it deliciously on a salad…

Pressed or crushed raw garlic is antiviral, antibiotic, and anti-inflammatory. It is a powerful cancer fighter and should certainly be used in the diet. (If you hate raw garlic, try it first crushed because you won’t bite it or taste it. If you don’t like it, that is fine. You can add powdered garlic to your dressing but you won’t have the same superfood punch).

Nutritional Yeast is full of B Vitamins and protein. It is often used as a replacement for cheese on popcorn and recently I had it on kale chips- delicious!!! At my house, nutritional yeast has long been a stable on our salads and has a wonderful flavor.

You can absolutely start this dressing off without the use of a conventional salad dressing. Just use a tiny bit of lemon juice or apple cider vinegar. (That would make it even healthier). You can always top off the dressing with sea salt and white pepper to taste.

I have shared this dressing with very discriminating foodies. The consensus is that It. Is. Amazing!

I am obsessed with it. But I think I said that already. Let me know if you try it. Be sure to buy your spices and ingredients organically!
